Six decades in the service of learning
Founded in 1964, Deccan Heritage has grown from a small evening college into an autonomous institution of Arts, Science and Commerce, affiliated to Osmania University.
An autonomous college with a civic purpose
Deccan Heritage Degree College was established to bring rigorous, affordable higher education to the families of the old city and its surroundings. From ninety-four students in its first year, it now serves over four thousand across twenty-four departments.
As an autonomous college, we design our own curriculum through Boards of Studies, conduct our own examinations and award degrees under the aegis of Osmania University. This independence lets us keep our syllabi current and our assessment transparent.
The college is recognised by the UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B), and is accredited A+ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

A chronicle of the college's growth from an evening school to an autonomous institution.
- 1964
Founded as an evening college of arts and commerce with 94 students.
- 1971
Permanent affiliation granted by Osmania University; science streams introduced.
- 1986
Moved to the present eighteen-acre campus near Nampally.
- 1998
Recognised under UGC Sections 2(f) and 12(B).
- 2006
First NAAC accreditation; postgraduate programmes launched.
- 2014
Conferred autonomous status by the UGC and Osmania University.
- 2019
Re-accredited by NAAC with Grade A.
- 2024
Re-accredited with Grade A+ (CGPA 3.51); Data Science programme introduced.

Deccan Heritage was founded on a simple conviction — that rigorous, affordable education transforms families within a single generation. For over sixty years we have held to that purpose. We invest in teachers, in libraries and in laboratories rather than in appearances, because an institution is judged by the citizens it sends into the world.
